  Pro-Am Charity Tournament

It started as a vision of Kathi Gray’s in 2004…an all Ladies Pro-Am for charity,  benefiting the PACE Center for Girls and LPGA*USGA Girls Golf.

Over the past 6 years our chapter has donated $47,600 to these worthy causes.  We are looking forward to another successful tournament in 2010 and surpass the $50,000 mark!

We met with Danielle Fafan, Interim Executive Director, and 2 of the young ladies from PACE.
These young ladies are very impressive considering their background and the fact the majority of them are 2 yrs behind in their grades.  It is wonderful to see them grow into confident, aspiring young women who have respect for themselves and each other.  We presented them with a check of $6,000.  Danielle said we are the only group that gives them a donation with "no strings attached".  We were very impressed and surprised to hear this..

We also presented a check of $4,500 to the Collier Co. LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Program while they were having a warm up for golf at Pelican Bay Country Club.  Our committee member Cindy Booker Gatz, local LPGA pro, purchased clubs for the LPGA Girl golfers on the Golden Gate High School golf team with a portion of the funds we donated.   This year, at our pro-am, four $500 scholarships were given.

7th ANNUAL EWGA LADIES CHARITY PRO-AM - Click here for Registration Brochure

The date for the pro-am is June 11& 12, 2010.  This year we are changing the venue.  We will be Rockin' at The Quarry!  The event has been moved toThe Quarry Golf Club, home of the 2010 Champions Tour ACE Group Classic.  Friday night, June 11, begins with skills challenges, raffle prizes, a wine toss and the always popular silent auction.  Two complimentary cocktails and a dinner buffet will be served while enjoying the evening.  Guests and non-players are welcome!  Saturday, June 12, is the golf event, a four person scramble.  An LPGA Teaching Pro will be paired with each group.  Bring your own pro or we will assign one to your group.  A box breakfast and smoothies will be served prior to play and a BBQ awards luncheon follows with an ice cream sundae bar for dessert. The entry fee of $150 for amateurs and $75 for professionals includes all of the above!

This tournament has raised over $47,000 the last 6 years for the charities and that is what this tournament is all about.  Pace Center for Girls is a program for girls ages 11-18 who are experiencing difficulty or conflict in school and at home. PACE’s purpose is to intervene and enable these young women to complete their education, build self-esteem and develop personal, social and family relationship skills.  LPGA*USGA Girls Golf provides local girls an opportunity to achieve success, progress in golf and learn life lesions inherent to the game, such as patience, respect, perseverance and honesty.  The funds from our chapter have given three $500 scholarships to Girls Golf, the fee for the girls to join is reduced to a minimal amount, golf shirts were purchased for a local girls golf team due to cuts in funding from the school district and golf clubs were purchased for the Golden Gate High School girls golf team in order to field the team.  Thank you ladies for your continued support for these worthy causes!  Your gifts keep giving ....

Our goal is to have more players from our own chapter this year for this primary fundraiser.   Contact Chris Burgner at 239-571-0145 cbgolf@comcast.net  Lori Cook North at 239-287-078  lori@eventfulinc.com or Kathi Gray 239-595-9876 bonitakathi@comcast.net for additional information about the tournament, sponsorship opportunities or if you are interested in helping out with the tournament.
