Announcing... SUMMER MATCH PLAY MADNESS COMPETITION ‐ July 5th ‐ September 25th
If you enjoy match play, or have always wanted to try it, you won't want to miss this! The competition starts on July 5th and matches will take place throughout July, August and September. All matches will be played at either The Quarry or The Plantation, and it works like this... Each player pays $10 to enter the tournament (123Signup) before the entry deadline of Friday July 2nd. On July 3rd all registered players will be sorted into 4 brackets (depending on number of entries) containing varying levels of handicap. Players will then be randomly drawn to establish the match pairings. First round pairings will be listed in the July 4th Blast. The first drawn player will be responsible for arranging the match at her choice of Quarry or Plantation.(EWGA reciprocal rates apply). All first round matches must be completed by July 26th, so you have plenty of time to make it happen, even with vacations, etc.
Strokes will be given for any difference in handicaps between the two players Handicaps will be updated throughout the tournament. Match winners will proceed to the next round, starting July 27th, and so on, until we have a Champion. All first round losers will be entered into the Medalist competition which allows them to continue competing parallel to the main event. Once all the rounds are complete, and players are eliminated round by round, the Chapter will have a Match Play Champion and a Match Play Medalist who will receive trophies at the Match Play Madness BBQ on Sunday September 26th, to which all players are invited.
SO, what have you got to lose? Worst case scenario is that you only play two matches, and lose both, but you never know how far you could go!! You may surprise yourself, and the match play experience will be valuable (and fun). We already use a match play format for the Pink Flamingo and Gulf Coast Challenge chapter events. Let's make this a summer to remember, click here for flyer for Summer Match Play Madness NOW!! Questions? Call Jennie Taylor: 239-297-6075. Click here to sign up.

GULF COAST CHALLENGE RESULTS...
What a great time we had at the Plantation this weekend in the inaugural Match Play team event against the Manatee Chapter!
Thanks to all the Chapter participants for making it such a fun event.
The competition was fierce, the camaraderie was excellent and the result...well, let's say we got the job done!!
CONGRATULATIONS Naples team - The 2009 Gulf Coast Challenge Champions!
Following an exciting pairings party on Friday night when both team partners and opponents were drawn, and a lot of 'trash' was talked, the business began on Saturday morning with the Best Ball of Two team event over 9 holes.
Result: Naples 3.5, Manatee 1.5
After lunch the team Alternate Shot took place which proved to be challenging for all, with parts of the golf course never seen before coming into play!
Result: Naples 3.5, Manatee 1.5
Sunday comprised 20 individual matches, with each team member taking on two different opponents over the 18 holes. Manatee rallied a little, but the might of the Naples team prevailed.
Result: Naples 13, Manatee 7
OVERALL SCORE: NAPLES 20, MANATEE 10.
Special thanks to Lori Drumm and Jennie Taylor who played for the Manatee team so that the sides could be even. Next year's event will be held in Bradenton at Tara Golf & Country Club and we look forward to defending the title and keeping the trophy in Naples.
Thanks to all the team members for being a part of this special first event. Well played ladies!
